Fantastic Start to the 2022 ELMS Season
Bailey started his European Le Mans season in excellent style with a 2nd place in his first ever ELMS race.
In beautiful Spring weather in the South of France, Bailey kicked off his 2022 ELMS season in an fantastic way securing 2nd place in his first ever P3 race. The #2 United Autosports car started on the 3rd row of the grid after qualifying in 5th place and got off to an excellent start with Bronze co-driver Josh Caygill at the wheel. Bailey took over for the middle part of the of the 4-hour race with the car in 4th position in the P3 field, and steadily rose through the grid to hand over the car to Finn Gehrsitz in 1st place, albeit with a further pit-stop to take. Finn’s excellent stint maintained 1st, allowed him to hand back to Josh for the final session to the chequered flag with the car coming over the finish line in 3rd, but promoted to 2nd following the disqualification of the car ahead for scrutineering failures.
Overall an amazing start to the season, meaning Bailey has achieved a podium in all season openers for the last three years, and all in different categories (2020 Juniors – 1st, 2021 GT4 – 1st, ELMS 2022 – 2nd).
